Perhaps most well known for his Emmy-winning portrayal of John Monroe in the comedy series My World and Welcome to It, Windom is also remembered for his recurring role as Dr. Seth Hazlitt on CBS's Murder, She Wrote. He also made a memorable appearance in the 1967 Star Trek episode "The Doomsday Machine."
Family
Born in New York City, he was the son of Isobel Peckham and architect Paul Windom and the great-grandson of U.S. Republican Party politician and Secretary of the Treasury William Windom. His five marriages -- to Carol Keyser, Barbara Joyce, Barbara Goetz, Jacqulyn Hopkins, and Patricia Tunder -- produced a total of six children.
