About
Ethiopian prime minister from 1995 until 2012 and head of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front, the ruling political coalition. He served as chairman of the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF)beginning in 1989 and also led the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front when it was founded in 1991.
Family
His father, Zenawi Asres, and his mother, Alemash Guebreluel, were residing in Adwa, Tigray, northern Ethiopia, when he was born. He fathered three children with his wife, rebel fighter Azeb Mesfin. To this day, some believe his death in 2012 was suspicious.
