Masahiro Kobayashi was a folk singer with  Wataru Takada

1980 Kibayashi decided to move to France willing to meet french filmmaker François Truffaut, his idol. He was not lucky, because François Truffaut was in America and he couldn't meet him

1996 the first film directed by Masahiro Kobayashi, Closing Time received an Award at the Fantastic Film Festival in Yubari.

1999 His film Bootleg or Le Voyage Maudit was selected to participate at the Cannes film Festival, at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs.

2000 Le film Koroshi of Masahiro Kobayashi was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

2002 His film L'Homme qui Marche was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

2005 Basing directed by Masahiro Kobayashi was included in the Official Selection at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival
