Casting Jillian

Digital girls exist. They’re ultra trendy, with their cut-off mittens and MySpace, and if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of one of them on their way to a place where people much cooler than you are making things happen. But chances are the closest you’ll get to these gentle and elegant creatures of fashionable habit is if you’re wired for sight and sound, and submit to the digital girl revolution.

This is something you’re going to want to do, especially when Jillian Ann is high heeling her hip couture through the cyber nightlife, blowing kisses and fulfilling wishes. The musician/ model/actress epitomizes the digital girl culture, using every facet of imagination (yours and hers) to deliver her art in the most fresh and accessible way possible, through soundtracks, P2P, video games, Internet radio, clubs, walkways, and glossy photos. The digital girl is a market unto herself, driven by a look, guided by a voice, and made to stand out in a sea of soy milk, neon scarves, and strawberry lip gloss.

Jillian Ann has the look. She’s thin, stylish, and uniquely fetish, living in vain, manipulating glam punk tendencies and Hollywood memories to suit her chameleon charm. She’s desirably innocent looking, with sharp eyes and a porcelain cheek, like some stolen runaway from the Valley of the Dolls, and runs the gamut from classical mistress to modern jezebel. She’s the cover of your magazine, the one you stare at on the street, the beautiful umbrella in your expensive drink, the electrifying digital girl of page, stage, and screen.

Jillian Ann has the voice. When she’s not in front of the lens, she spends her sun-filled days creating a Shirley Manson meets Portishead dreamscape of eclectic electro-pop, complete with ambient cries of infected harmony and tortured trip hop beats. She morphs and teases her weird prophetic acid trips into musical hybrids of estrogens and apocalyptic landscape. You’re sucked in immediately, your mind scouring to decipher the brainspeak. She’s international and in demand, a digital girl who embodies the certain charisma of rock’s brightest stars, but spins it with a pearl handle and caresses its idyllic fragility just so, ready to catch the drops of truth that spill from its fresh wounds.

Jillian Ann stands out. Although she runs in fashionable circles that transcend the globe from New York to Milan, she takes satisfaction in surrounding herself with some the more homely, artistic, and personal pleasures of life, such as museums, gardens, intellectual conversation, spirituality, piano playing, poetry readings, yoga, and friendship. Jillian Ann dreams of love, people, the end of the world, and strange, deep, and insane things. And her deepest desire is for people to know they're loved and that it's ok to be real and real isn’t perfect.

It’s a revolution, a wired and weird world of ‘it’ girls who are, at large, highly accessible attention seekers. Yet with every revolution comes the realization that there are but a few that will separate themselves from the crowd, rise above the weekend sales, and make a difference in your life. Jillian Ann was there when the whole thing went down, and she’ll still be there when the revolution sweeps by your computer screen, hotter than ever, setting trends, and defining culture with art that aims to defy digital decadence.
