Playback Singer famous among the Bollywood industry of films with a career that has spanned over seven decades. Over the years, she has performed in many of the Indian dialects including Marathi, Manipuri, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Assamese songs. One of her most popular songs "Mungda" was featured in the 1972 Marathi movie Pinjara about a religious school teacher. It would also be released to the Hindi market under the same title, in the same year.
Family
Like most Bollywood stars, she comes from a long lineage of distinguished creatives amongst the film industries in India. She is one of five children born to well-known Marathi actor Deenanath Mangeshkar and his wife. All of her siblings work in music production for the film industry. Her only brother Hridaynath is a music director and all of her sisters are playback singers, and her youngest sister Meena also composes music.
